South Padre'

My wife was there a couple weeks ago and there were some non-english speaking folks there that were catching big lady fish and were keeping them!!! I'm certainly not the most informed about saltwater tablefare, but we have always sent them back to the water....I didn't think they were good to eat!!! They had a stringer full of them!!! I did some research back then and one website I went to described the ladyfish as pungent, odiforous and not considered good for human consumption....This solidified my rule of throwing them back as trashfish.....Pretty area though....

Try using one for bait..... trout love them things.

Now I'm not sure if its south or just padre......if its padre, that's near Baffin......isn't that where Ryan charters?? Hmm....may have to ride in a SCB!!

i was down there for a week over the 4th of july weekend and fished in the bay where jfk bridge crosses over from corpus christi to south pardre i caught a few specks but talked to some locals there and they said mostly of the specks are offshore due to lack of rain and low water levels. but the reds are doing good around the beaches on live baits. hope this helps out a little because i noticed they arent attacking the lures as much so live bait would do better. i even fished at marker 31 pier and there was like 40 people on the pier. most was catchking lady fish and only one guy caught one speck out of 4 hours we were there. so my fishing report was kinda poor while i stayed there. hope this info helps ya out a bit while u go down there. fish at night is the key. water is sooo clear all around there right now.

yeah south parde is like 15 miles more southwest down from padre island we stayed in parde island where u can go straight to port aranas or whatever its spelled. it was nice down there but right now the fish arent doing much good in the bay. we went night fishing 4 days in a row and fished during the day time in the am and it didnt do much good. but tried some live shrimp and did catch some croakers, lady fish, few specks which would be like 3 the most and one red fish. but what bothers me is that we had under water lights and seen like 20 good sizes specks swimming around the lights attacking bait fish, we tried all kind of lures and bait, they refused to bite, must have a lock on their mouths lol.
