As in putting the leaf spring under (or over) the axle?

Hopedale Hustler 07-08-2011 02:30 PM

yes as in dropping my truck in the back

wtretrievers 07-08-2011 02:31 PM

Got good fillings in your teeth? Not for long!!!!

southern151 07-08-2011 02:33 PM

Ya going up or down? Really, if ya got the kit, it isn't that bad. Going either way, you add a little strain to your u joints(pinion angle will change a little) but, it isn't anything substantial.

Get ready though, on most vehicles, you have to undo e-brake cables and such which is kinda a pain in the arse if it isn't a brand new vehicle.

southern151 07-08-2011 02:36 PM

Since you're going down with it, I would recommend changing shocks while you're in there. If ya don't, the ride quality will suffer and you'll be changing them out soon enough anyway due to failure. Also, you may need to get after your bumpstops with a saws-all. You won't have to cut them completely off but, likely will have to cut them down some.

If ya get in a bind, you got my number.

Yessir didn't even think about shocks...what so you recommend for those?? Also would you use springs or go with drop spindles in the front?

southern151 07-08-2011 02:48 PM

Spindles in the front for sure. Your tires will wear at a faster rate using springs. Spindles cost a little more but, tires cost a LOT more! Belltech makes a good lowered shock. There are a million manufacturers out there. Just make sure you get a shock that is tuned to the amount you are lowering the vehicle.

I can get that type of stuff for you but, I doubt I could save ya enough money to justify the trip up here to get it.

Nice!!! how low you going?

Hopedale Hustler 07-08-2011 07:31 PM

It's already dropped 3 inches in the back and I was gonna go with a 3,5 or 5,7 drop kit but flippin and spindles is much more affordable and doable by my own hands..what you got on yours?
