Cool vid...how fast do they troll for marlin?? I never caught one or even tried....

they troll like 12 to 15 knots i think which is pretty fast.

That poor marlin can't figure out why his kill shots are working....

well drost you might troll that slow but alot of people troll pretty fast for marlin, big tuna just google it theres hundreds of ways people do it here is a example of one.When I target Ono at high speeds (14-18 knots), I catch all sorts of pelagic's and big ones too. I've caught several Marlin under 300 lbs, a 300 lb Big Eye, 78 lb Mahi and lots of Ono. The funny thing is all fish were taken on cable leader...makes me wonder if fish are even leader shy at high speed.......


When we cross the stream from Miami to Bimini, I always put out two wire line outfits and troll them at 20 knots....On one crossing, we had both 12/0 wire outfits get stripped in less than a min or so.....maybe Bluefin? who knows......

With a camera rigged up like that........ I wonder if there is a monitor on the boat to watch what is going on down below?

Just how close to the boat do you think the baits are to get that good of pictures?

Makes me wonder how many times I've had a marlin or tuna come up to our spread and slash at it when we didn't see it.

Dredge is usually pulled right behind/under the boat. There's been many times when marlin has slapped bait and pulled it out of rigger. Usually just try to free spool it so it gives the appearance that the bait got knocked out and is falling while other baits swim off. Marlin usually comes back to eat it on the fall.

PS - video said they used goPro, so no monitor. Just turn the little sucker on and see what you get when you hook it up to CPU.
