REDTIDE, Trout, and pond reds 7-26-11

It was great to get Bill Wolfe and his son William from Shreveport back on board today. Our morning started off with my crew experiencing the REDTIDE for the first time ever. These guys were truly amazed at the sight and the power of the Bulls. Thousands of fish surrounded the boat and it didn't take but a couple seconds before you would hook a fish..every-cast!!! Bill and William battled the bulls until their arms were tired, what a awesome sight to see. We left the bulls biting to go hit the trout, and it only took one stop. We had the trout coming in every-cast for a good thirty minute run, then started pecking at them. When the bite slowed I decided to take them into the ponds to redfish. WOW, the reds were on fire in the ponds also. We smoked the reds and easily caught our limits. This may go down as one of my crews best fishing trip of their lives. Good times and good company for sure. Thanks guys and I definitely look forward to the next one.
All bulls were released to reproduce and battle again. Capt. Marty LaCoste 985 856 4477 www.absolutefishingcharters.com |

Nice fish! How do you like that blue wave capt? What kinda speed are you getting with that motor(300?)?
|
I don't know....I've been on the same fish and all of mine had antennas hanging out cause they are feeding on shrimp heavy, but we used artificial...We had a lot of deep hook sets as well because they were finicky as heck at times...They would hit the bait for the "kill shot" and we would stop lure movement and then they would pick it up good. Took us while to figure the bite out, but it resulted in deeper more complicated hook removals....We were ok with that cause they were hitting ice anyway....Most all of them had the ole' antennas hanging out though...

But I have never had that type of trip where we hammer the reds and the specs....I'm jealous!

All fish caught on plastics. Fish were feeding on shrimp. The blue wave is awesome and the 300 pushes her 62 mph top speed. Thanks guys for the great comments. It sure was the day we all dream of.
