Kayak Summer Trout
Hit up some big trout this past weekend. We were supposed to go to the Chandeluer Islands but the trip got canceled so we went and explored the areas around Dauphin Island, Bayou La Batre. Water was clear (despite the winds) and we caught some nice trout on topwater. Bite wasnt fast and furious but steady all day, and plenty of fish where sight casted to running the banks like redfish in the shallows despite the >80ºF water temps. Our kayaks allowed us to be stealthy but still cover more water than wading and the lure of the day was the Silver Prism TogDog Jr which took in 80% of the fish. We caught probably 30 fish over 20" and a few really nice fish. Too bad its the summer and they are all length and no girth.
