The first pic is me and Dad only 6 weeks after I was born in 1973. We're on the front porch of our beloved camp on Bayou Cook, out of Empire, La.

Of course many of you read my looooong story about my weekend in Grand Bayou. Dad and I spent a lot of time cooling off on the swing beneath the generator shed and my buddy Ziggy caught us for a pic. It's a trip I know I'll treasure for the rest of my life. Thanks for buying the camp and teaching me how to fish Dad. - Sandy

It is nice that you and your dad have been able to hang out all this time.

I hunted and fished with my dad constantly when I was growing up. I wouldn't trade those great times for anything on this planet.

I am really thankful that he worked hard to provide the boats/guns/trucks/leases/gas money that it took every weekend for our adventures. I need to scan some old pictures I have and post them up on here.

It was my sister that scanned all these pics. I've got to tell y'all. It's really special to sit here and flip through them on the computer. Here's one of me and my mom that same day. My first fishin' experience. Parents like these are special indeed.

Sandy thanks for posting this. I lost my dad and friend forever 12 yrs ago. We hunted, fished, and played golf every weekend we could. He taught me the right and wrongs of life the right way, I wish we had more parents like this today. I lost my mom 2 1/2 yrs ago and that one realy hurts. Sorry Im getting teary eyed right now. For those of you still have parents call them every day and tell how much you love them cause when there gone you will miss them dearly.

Great times, man! Thanks for sharing.

Guys who have lost parents, y'all are 100% right, and I absolutely appreciate your advice. My dad was a year younger than me when he lost his father, who was much younger then than my dad is now. People tell me all the time to cherish the times I have with my parents and they are 100% right. Living so far away doesn't make it easy, but Dad and I are on the phone all the time. When we do see each other, I make sure we have good times, and I make sure they both know how much I love them both. Mom and I don't do much together, but I sit and talk with her and cook with her. Dad and I just have so many co-mingled interests. We'll watch a whole baseball game on tv together over the phone. I hope to get home once this year to go to a Tulane football game with him. It has been so long since we did that together. He is planning to come into Houston for a Tulane game at Rice this November and we'll have a trip to my camp.

Speaking of my camp, I'm headed out there right now to work on it. Y'all have a good weekend.
