Help choosing the right Boat

I am new to SaltyCajun and new to boating. I am looking for a boat that i can take on the Calcasieu and go fishing or take the family tubing, or just go for a ride on the river. Could anybody tell me what type of boat to look for I would really appreciate it.

Choosing a boat is like choosing a woman. Looking at all the models out there is a lot of fun. Trying a few out is even more fun. Which one is right for you is only your decision. Most are happy with what they choose and some are not and decide to trade. You usually take a big loss when you trade.

Sorry for not replying sooner, I'm thinking center console fiberglass $4000 to $5000. 16-18 feet. We mostly fish fresh water. I won't be buying until next year so I am basically looking for information on what brands are good, what defects are ok which one are not. Thank you for all of your replies.

Probably gonna be a early to mid 2000 year boat.

Blue waves are decent as are nautic stars...probably a few other too...

I plan on upgrading to a bigger boat nx year sometime. She will be up for sale. 1996 17ft predator with 112 Johnson 30 gallon tank aluminum tank. Under flip flop seat. Bulge pump, live well, 70lb Trolling motor new tires.

I think youd be more comfortable in a bass boat considering you fish mostly fresh water and take the family out etc.Itll pull a tube great and nice to fish out of.If you decide you want to fish saltwater it can handle that too.

Have you considered an Xpress, they are aluminum and you can get center console or side console and carpet or spray lined

Alphaman Nice boat if i am still looking when you sell we will talk. Whats a flip flop seat? I quess i am really showing my nerd. LOL

Lacitcat 08-13-2011 06:30 PM

weedeater where can i see an express

Lacitcat 08-13-2011 06:33 PM

Bird Dog i don't really like all the decking on a bass boat i like the openness of a center console.
