Johnson Bayou 8-28-11

Hauled my little pond boat(Pelican Bass Raider) down to Johnson Bayou this morning. The most awesome sunrise I have seen in awhile!!! Anticipating green water but not the case. It was very calm early but then some waves from the east started coming through. Caught 7 trout, 5 keepers, lost 2 that would have went 3 pounds. 2 on plastics all the rest on topwater. It was my first time down there and I cannot wait to hit it when it is right. I did cast net a few mullet and tried that for a while but only caught a hard head. A guide boat came by me with live mullet and caught 2 reds but no trout. Another boat came by with live shrimp and caught some hard heads and left. A lot of folks were surf fishing but I did not see them catch much at all. I had a great time and have a new spot for my little boat. It worked great in this situation. I can get out in front of the rocks and am not regulated to the beach side. Left at noon.

We scratched on the other side of the channel. Beaches sucked Sunday.
