rebuilding bike
Got a deal on a 250 kawasaki bayou... $50.
Only thing is it has sat up for 3-4 years. Figured id buy it and rebuild it. One of those bikes just to tear around with. Anybody ever have one of these?? |
Also using it to cross a marsh area. Since its so light.
|
Boys had one.....they're tough as nails.....just sitting up should just be the carb. Needs rebuilding & a battery.

Parts are usually easy to find...if there's something as in parts that you can't find give me a shout, there's a guy here close to the house that can gets just about anything you're looking for.
|
If it was running before it was put up for a few years ....I would drain the gas, new plug, change oil, and just pull the bowl on carb and look at it. May spray a few shots of cleaner in the carb and put bowl back on and see if it runs before you tear into it.
Might be pleasantly surprised. |
Make sure you check tank for rust!

My nephews frame rusted out after 4 years. But he lives in Cameron.
|
Cameron + fourwheeler = rust
The marsh I'm in is freshwater so she won't be too bad. Wish I could put some bigger tires on it. 24 in is the max I've heard so far |
All you need. Anything bigger will bog it down. Stock size tire + the light weight you'll be surprised what it'll go through.

Nephews was a Bayou, but don't think it was a 250. I think it was something like a 220, 2 wheel drive.
|
fool if you do a good search I'm sure you can find the service manual on that bike
|
Used to have a 220. That thing was a beast. Light as hell and quick. Couldnt kill it. The 250 should make you a good bike.
|
Bring it to da house, i can make that work
|
Shawn + miller light + working on bike = not good lol

We had a 220 when i was a kid. Had some mud machines on the back and that thing would go through hell and back every weekend and never stop. Solid machine. Good luck with it.

jldsc can give you more info, his cousin put this together. He can cross the bayou with it. I'm sure marsh wouldn't be a problem. Might be a 300, but you get the idea. |
