PROP

How much difference does a performance?? prop make on an outboard? I have a 150 4stroke on my 21' nautic, right now it has a 3 blade prop on it, not sure of the pitch. Would changing it out make a difference??? thanks

Numbers?? Rpm and speed at WOT?

The right prop makes all the difference and the chances of your boat coming from the dealer with the right prop are very low.

45 mph @ 5600 rpm

Dink 09-23-2011 07:02 PM

What engine?

Ur prop is to big.... U should b Gettin 5600 with wot and 52 mph with a light load.
That's from yamaha performance bulletin.
Now it's not precise and accurate for every boat , but it's close.
14 1/2 x 21 pro series prop

Read the test load 1/2 tank of gas,one battery,no trolling motor or ice. Every application is different. What brand of 150 are you running? If it is a four stroke you need to be close to 6,000 rpm's at wide open.

PUREBAY2200 09-23-2011 11:02 PM

I know...... Lol
That's y I said it's not exact but close.
Just a thing to look at as a gauge.
And I included " with a light load"
:)
See I covered all the in's and outs.

I was suprised to see only 5600 rpm..... Bro n law has a 22xbay express with a 150 Yammy 4 stroke.
It'll hit 6000 when I blow the prop out the water.
5800 is the wot & with a full load for a day of fishin it'll run 46-47 mph
Lite load for an afternoon trip.... 51

I had that exact boat with a 150 Yam 4 stroke , with 2 people 3/4 tank of gas trolling motor etc... 5600 49.7 any thing less than that weight put me over 50 I had the yamaha pro series 21 pitch.
