Grand Isle / Leeville

I am heading down there this weekend with the family and was wondering if anyone has done any good around there lately? i have an 18 foot triton bass boat to fish around leeville, but i also wanted to try and wade fish around elmers island. is it open to vehicles? i know i could get there from the bridge, but didnt want to have to take the boat if i didnt have to. Also, if you have been and were successful, what did you catch them on besides live bait. thanks in advance guys.

Grand Isle Surf

Hey Big,
Tried the surf on the Island yesterday after work and came in with 15 nice trout in a little over an hour. Caught them on double shad-rig with light color and also on gulp molten shrimp. The water is starting to clear up in the afternoon. The road to Elmer's Island is still closed.

Hey guys,
The Grand Isle beach surf is clearing up and water is finally looking green instead of chocolate. Went hit the surf again Tuesday after work and ended up with another 15.

Got a report of some nice trout coming of the rocks on the back side of Caminada in the bay.

Went to Grand Isle around 10am last weekend with my father. Didn't want to fight the early risers. Fished from 10:30 am to 1pm and caught back to back trout on a oyster reef. They would nail anything. The trout were slow, but then back to back once the tide slacked. Next weekend should have a similar tide just an hour earlier.

May try big lake one day just my boat 17ft flat with 70hp is fairly small.

jlsch1...your 17' foot boat will do just fine on Big Lake------if the winds are not over 15 mph. The lake will get kind of ruff when the wind starts blowing.

You can go out east thru south west canal. It will take you to the bay or you can turn north to Bayou Ferblanc there are many ponds etc. If the bay is not rough you can island hop all the way to Manilla. Generally the clearer the water the better the fishing. There are good charts available at the store in Leeville. My Blackjack/225HPDI will be there Thursday thru MOnday. We plan to fish Manilla, BasaBasa area on the reefs.
