Frustrating day Thursday

Lake was chocolate, and nothing was happening during the morning in Prien or Moss, so we headed south across the lake to fish the marsh behind the weirs.
Caught some baitfish, but had problems because of the danged shrimp bigger than I like for bait. Found 1 red in the marsh, then saw birds working the small lakes. The schools were working the small baitfish like wolves, and we managed to snag 2 reds. But they kept moving into water too shallow for my trolling motor and we couldn't keep up with them. Finally a storm approached from the west and we hauled butt back to Calcasieu Point. Our plan had been to fish Moss Lake last but the weather was too dicey for that.
Then we got caught in the I-10 traffic snarl. Took almost 3 hours to get back to Lafayette. At least I got to stuff myself with boiled shrimp when I got home.

Still better than being at work

Was better than work. It got me thinking that hauling a kayak might be a good idea to get up in those shallow areas without worrying about getting stuck.
