New Truck! Cummins!

Wife got me an 05 5.9 Cummins w/a six speed today! Wow!! What a woman!!!!

I know some of you have these engines. Im thinking about a programmer.......who's got the best?

weedeater 10-07-2011 11:19 PM

Edge with Juice, its the best since it has a display for exhaust temps and such

Dink 10-07-2011 11:46 PM

Interesting you mention that......took a ride earlier and the exhaust broke right before the muffler.......muffler back is sitting in the bed....it sounds freaking awesome now!! But, will it effect performance?

weedeater 10-08-2011 12:13 AM

there are a lot of guys that run a strait 4" pipe on these trucks and it sounds good and they will run better with more flow but you need cold air intake and programmer to get full effect. The exhaust temp is somthing to monitor if you push the truck hard because you can burn the turbo up.

Dink 10-08-2011 12:18 AM

Ooops!! Took about 1k miles off the tires in 3rd earlier......thanks for the direction!!

weedeater 10-08-2011 12:25 AM

those trucks are a beast, I drove a mega cab 4x4 with 35" tires that had cold air, exhaust, and programmer that would roast all 4 tires when I was looking at putting a programmer on my 06 I had

Dink 10-08-2011 12:28 AM

Deffinatly!! This truck is the shizz !!

weedeater 10-08-2011 12:37 AM

did you get 4x4?

Wide Open 10-08-2011 06:14 AM

I run an 05 2500 4x4 5.9! its got the 4 speed custom rebuilt at 100,000 flat out hard miles. 4 in. strait exhuast (just remove the muffler, and gut the cat)! superchips flashpaque tuner wich stays in performance mode, cold air intake, and the thing is an animal! Ive run 35in. MickeyThompsons for the last 120,000 miles, and I have a total of one million miles! NAH Im not gonna kid ya like W its got 150,000 miles and feels as good or better than the day I drove it home. Be reasonable with the tuners though its fun to play, but theirs not a stock tranny that can hold up to a chipped 5.9 turbo. they r like the littlt engine that could. That strait 6 is a freekin beast! gotta go to the deer stand now, check back later to see how many more miles u melted off! LOL

When ya get ready to do this stuff, get with me. My BIL has a cummins that is unreal fast! I can get you with him and he can help ya a bunch with it. As said previously though, get ready for tran mods!

SaltyShaw 10-08-2011 07:30 AM

Pics or it didnt happen

T-BAZ 10-08-2011 08:31 AM

I have a flashpaq supertuner for 04 to 07 5.9 cummins for sale. Used it for 2 months and got rid of the truck. It works fine message me if your interested.

Dink 10-08-2011 09:08 AM

Ill get with ya on the tuner! Thanks!

I read that the 6 speed manual couldn't be killed???? Don't really want to open up the tranny

i've got a 05' with 203,000 on it and it's stronger than ever. i've got a hot shot business and this truck don't get babied a bit. still bone stock!

wtretrievers 10-08-2011 12:47 PM

I have the 06, Magna Flow 5" exhaust from turbo back no cat, cold air induction & edge juice with attitude programmer. With programmer turned all the way up it's pushing almost 500hp & over 700 ft lbs of torque ;)

I had an 06, mine was junk but I just had a lemon. My father in law and a few buddies have them and they are rough with vehicles and haven't done anything but scheduled maint. I just had a Diablo Power Puck in mine and it was the biggest bang for the buck I could find. It had stock, 60 ,and 90 hp settings that could be changed with a toggle switch on the fly. Awesome trucks, tire smoking machine!!!

Dink 10-08-2011 08:45 PM

Im really enjoying it so far.....runs and drives great!! Kinda an eyesore though compared to my other truck.....thinking of rhinolining the whole truck.......

Side note. Anyone sell tires? These are going quick!!

Dink 10-08-2011 08:51 PM

Also.....its got airbags on the back and is stock up front.......how do I raise the front besides tires??

cheapest is leveling kit but you can change springs on front

weedeater 10-08-2011 09:00 PM

You can run up to a 35" tire if its 4x4, that's what I ran on stock height truck
