Many of the financial preferreds are selling at a nice discount to their call price, examples - DTT, DTK, GS .PR.B , BCS.PR.C, MSK, AEF. I buy mainly investment grade pref'ds that are eligible for the 15 percent tax rate. Yields currently ranging from 7 to 9 percent. If they get called you receive the 25.00 price and pay no commission. An excellent site to do some research on preferreds is "Quantum Online" It's free and also has info on other income securities

Look at Goodyear's preferred. It is in a pretty tight range right now and it will pay around 9% (7.25% at current price) at the lower part of the range of about $35. The ticker is GT.PA on bigcharts and GT-PA on yahoo.
