Cleaning aluminum

I need to clean and keep clean my boat. It a custom built Borel and all aluminum, trailer too. The bottom is turned darker in the past couple of trips in salt water. What could I use to clean it off and keep it from getting back like this?

is the aluminum coated? if not and your cleaning just aluminum, use alumnabright, its a mix of detergents and a weak acid that eats every thing off the metal, then get it coated with a paint. may need to use an epoxy primer.

The entire outside is bare aluminum. Is there any kind of protectant to put on it. I just read about Sharkhide, has anyone ever tried it or anything like it?

Borel can't tell you what to put on it? if you want to keep it plain aluminium in color, I would find a clear coat of some sort to seal the metal.

I've tried Aluma Bright on mine and it didn't last long. I didn't have mine painted cause I bought an aluminum boat to have less maintence and didn't want to add the headache of scatched up paint. I basically just rinse it off with water when I get home and realized that it wouldn't stay shiney for ever.

I use some stuff called Simple Green Max and it cleans the water stain and crap off my painted boat real good without scrubing but not sure how well it would work on the plain aluminium but worth a try, I get it in a gallon jug and put it in a pump spray bottle
