Scouting time?

Had a friend call me and ask when he could scout for ducks in Lacassine refuge. I told him I did not know. I figured someone one here could fill me in. On a good note have been seeing large bodies of geese flying al over. Thanks in advance!

i'm not sure when you can start to scout maybe call the hdqtrs for the refuge i'm sure they can tell him. Seen about 8 flocks of geese flying over work this morning.

The best thing your friend can do is quit asking what other people think and read the pamphlet. I'm not trying it be an azz by no means but all the info is in there. I have seen people just ask around about public land and end up doing illegal things on accident not knowing any better. Read all rules and regs and boundaries before hunting the reserves

Again, not trying to come off as rude. But I have seen a group of guys who didn't read the pamphlet hunt two different areas that were no hunting zones and they had no idea

It was sort of a last minute thing. He had wanted to go this weekend and came back into town late Friday afternoon so the office was already closed. I myself don't recall anything saying about when you could scout. Hence why I asked the forum to verify what I was looking for. Thanks.

I see. The pamphlets are online now and thats probably his best bet because I hardly see them anymore at the launch. It is very vague in the pamphlet about scouting time, but to be honest I really don't think it will be a problem for him to go scout. Let him know to be sure and print the first page of the pamphlet and have it signed for a permit to hunt the reserves. Here is the link

Here ya go, I copied from the pamphlet:

Scouting
Hunters may scout refuge hunt areas during the refuge open
fishing season, March 15 through October 15, and Monday
through Friday during the one week prior to the opening of
the LA west zone duck and coot season. Possession of blind
material while scouting is prohibited.

So he can go this week, starting Monday. (12-11 through 12-16)

See I knew I was asking the right people! Thanks for the input!
