Never run with your keys in your hand...

Well, I was running in the rain through a parking lot a few minutes ago and, this is why you should NEVER run with your keys in your hand! When I slipped...

This is how far my key went into my right palm!

SaltyShaw 12-22-2011 10:51 AM

OUCH!

southern151 12-22-2011 11:05 AM

I pulled on it and it wouldn't come out. It just stretched the palm of my hand. Finally, I just looked at my headliner and yanked. I didn't throw up but, the thought sure crossed my mind!

It was stuck deep enough that, at first I just thought it was one of my pad lock keys. Boy was I ever wrong! Now, my fingers don't want to straighten out for nothing!

u need to get that checked capt. worked in ER as nurse and seen plenty of punctures that were tendon related or muscle tears. PM Dr. Jay. I wouldnt F around with this especially bc your job requires you to use your hands.

They'll straighten. It just hurts like heck! Pretty sure my hand won't be worth a crap for a few days.

Your mother didn't teach you not to run with sharp objects when you was a kid?

jchief 12-22-2011 11:37 AM

Corey, I strongly recomened following Eddie's advice. If you ripped a tendon or something and it don't heal right you could loose 100% use of the hand.

You don't need to worry bout tendon being cut there, they run inline with the metacarpal bones. but you basically did a blunt dissection of your lumbricles and interoceous muscles. Be thinking when was the last tetnus shout and how much crap was on your skin and that key when you drove it in there. You need to go in and get it cleaned out and some antibiotic/ tetnus . You cant afford what can happen in your line of work.
