I know there was an issue with the bass being genetically engineered over there (as far as the record). Anyone read anything about this?

I know they regard bass as an invasive species and u r requires by law to kill every one that you catch and can be fined if caught releasing

Correct. This fish was actually slightly larger than the world record but under the offical rules it was ruled a tie.
