income tax
 
well this is my first year filing as married. my question is since im married can i file married and seperate. reason i ask is my wife can file about a month before i will be able to. im lost on the whole thing as ive always filed single.

You can file married and separate but your tax liability is generally higher. Better off just waiting the extra month.

I think you will get way more back if you file married and joint, vs. married and seperate. You can get the tax preparer to run it both ways and see which one comes out best for you before he submits it.

You almost always want to avoid filing speratley except for a few very rare circumstances. Do not be in hurry to file, if you need extra time just file an extension.
