Tactical .22's

I've been having the itch for a while now to get a tactical .22 for playing around on the back 40. My question is what should I do? I was adamant on buying a stock 10/22 and building one, but how much trouble and what's the cost? I've been looking at the S&W MP 15-22 and that thing looks clean for around $500. What's y'all take on the matter...... Build?or Buy? A 10/22 runs about $200 with another $150 or so for the stock, and no telling what else I'll need. By the way, I'm no gunsmith, so I'll have to pay somebody to do the work. PLEASE HELP!

I agree. Buy the S&W and don't look back. The S&W comes with an integrated rail if you want to tinker on your own and add things later. But right out of the gate you're probably getting something better than what would have been built anyway.

That's what was wondering. I knew the 10/22 has an endless amount of accessories, but didn't know much about the S&W. I figured as time went by I'd want to customize it some, and wanted to make sure there are products out there for the S&W. I looked at the Mossberg but that thing feels like a squirt gun!!

Just got the S&W M&P 15-22 and let me tell you that is one fine gun! It loves CCI ammo an it is very accurate. Very easy to clean.

From what I have seen I would avoid the mossberg. My personal favorite is the h&k 22 (umarex made), with the S&W magpul edition a close second. There is a tactical firearm shop near my house and they move a ton of the S&W's. The Colts are very similar, but you are paying for the colt name.

As soon as my .556 comes in I am going to order the h&k

BTW, you can't go wrong with the ruger - those things have been around forever and stand up to abuse. I just don't have time to convert one myself.

They sell online for $488. I can send you a site where you can buy them online and have them shipped to the store by my house for no charge...

since you can't look at the sites, here is some eye candy. 1st is of the H&K 416 .22LR and the 2nd is my new toy on the way, a Spikes Tactical. (Not trying to high jack the thread, just trying to help an ol' oil guy out!)

Here is a 10/22. The only thing ruger on it is the receiver. Everything else is aftermarket. If you have tactical foregrips, you should be able to add just about any toys to it later. I have quite abit into this gun,but it was fun buying all the different pieces exactly the way I wanted and build my own gun.It is extremely accurate with the red/green dot scope. You can just about circumcise a gnat at 30 yds.:smokin: There are some nice guns listed above already that are bad to the bone right out of the box. You might look into the Archangel too.
