AAMCO Transmission

Has anyone used the AAMCO Transmission shop on Coursey in Baton Rouge? My truck is having some transmission issues and I want someone to take a look at it.

I have had some issues with using some local transmission shops in the past and not being pleased with the service I have gotten. I am wanting to find a trustworthy place that will not screw me over.

AAMCO is very close to my house so I would like to try them out, but wanted to see if anyone has any opinions about their service?

Me and my dad had work done at the one on Florida Blvd baton rouge. Very expensive! My dads transmission went out 2 weeks after his waranty expired and mine one month. So if you are going to spend that kind of money you may as well get their high $ extended waranty.

So it sounds like not the best place to send my truck. Anyone have any recommendations in the Baton Rouge area where I can bring my truck. My transmission is slipping between second and third gear and I want to get it checked out before it gets worse. I already have a feeling they are going to have to rebuild it.

Cant say anything about that particular shop but I used the one in Beaumont and I was extremely happy with them. My jeep stopped shifting so I took it to a well known local shop and they told me that there were shards of metal in my fluid and the transmission would need to be replaced at a cost of $3000.00. I then took it to AAmmco for a second opinion. They did numerous tests and showed me the results of those tests. They found nothing wrong with the transmission. It turned out to be a glitch in a sensor sent the jeep in to limp mode (stays in second gear). They reset the code and sent me on my way for $80.00. They even gave me a courtesy call a month later just to make sure all was well.

Like I said that was not the shop you are requiring about but it is in the same chain.

Action Transmission at corner of Blackwater and Charelton Rd. in Central behind Sonny's Auto Repair. Aamco tried to play 'hide the salami' with me back in the 90's. They told me I would need a rebuild for $1200. Well I limped my truck back to the house and on closer inspection, I found the little hose on the modulator valve had split so I cut off about an inch ,hooked back up and drove it another 100,000 miles. They were fixin to clip me pretty good. I'm sure every franchised dealer has different standards of doing business....
