Quick trip

My brother and I got our things done around the home and had a few hours before the big game so not wanting to waste the precious time we are having together we went to my office.

There was no water and we were at the bottom of the tide with brisk winds. We did not expect much but just wanted to do what we enjoy. We were forced to fish behind the (rozos) for protection from the wind. The water was so shallow that our lines were constantly getting caught on the oysters. My brother hooks the first fish and hauls in this 17 inch flounder. He is telling me it would be this much too short in Connecticut and I told him he would go back in the water before that fish would in Louisiana.

This was at the second place we stopped and it was at our next place I get lucky with this 22 inch red.

We stopped at Joshua's for coffee then continued towards Hospital bay looking for some action. We talked to one other fisherman that was in a cut I wanted to try and he had been there for a while with only 1 red caught. I went to an island that I had never fished before and we fished the back side out of the wind. Although very shallow We found some action and I was able to pick a 24 incher. At this time we decided to pick up and head in to Empire with 3 in the box.

We had to put the boat up, clean the catch, and get ready to watch what I considered to be a good Super Bowl. The game was in no way boreing and remained close right to the end. It turned out to be Good for us as my brother is a "from the heart /die hard NY Giants fan" and I won a Super Bowl pool.

Life is Good!

I should know him. What is his name? I have been a regular there since 2003. I quit drinking but still go there a lot.

I know Capt. Mark well and also Chris and his wife and brother. Just mention Hoop the next time you talk to any of them.

Thanks for the comments and nice remarks guys. Hope I kept things interesting during this winter slow down period.

This was a great week for me and with him at 62 today and me at almost 70 this is the most time we have spent together in over 30 years.

I know some of the Leoeuf's.

Hey Hoop, try the Buras canal the last 200 to 300 yards before you get into Hospital/Yellow cotton. It's deep & the specks will hold right in the middle of the canal this time of year, just drift it with the wind.

Speedy and I have been friends for years and he has fished with me for fun once but I put him on so many fish he said it was work not fun. We watched the game together last night.

I was in that area but another guy was there and I gave him space. I fished the bay side along the rozos and picked up a red and had some other action.
