Thinking about taking Wed off and fishing. Low tide at Calcasieu pass is at 7:54am. High tide is about 2:30. How long after low tide reaches its lowest does it take before it start to move towards high tide. In other words how long will there be a period of slack tide. I am not sure I know what I am doing when I read tide tables. The high tide will be 1.7 is that good or bad? I iwll probably be fishing the south end.

Let me ask it this way; once the low tide is at it's lowest how long will there normally be a slack tide till the tide starts moving again?

The red circles indicate the slack tides. This would be the period of time during the least amount of tidal movement. If there is only 1 high and 1 low tide during the 24hr period the slack times usually last longer.

Tide prediction charts are OLD FASHION....Just use that live reading and add a hours to the day before and you can time your tides...

Right now low tide is am and high tide peeks late afternoon....

Fish the incoming tide right now

Thursday is Full moon so 4 days before and 4 days after are you best times to fish

Once the tide starts moving how long does it take to reach high tide? How many hours before the high tide should I be on the water?

All depends ...once it makes the turn at Jetties (with out strong north winds) it will only take about an hour to start seeing movement at the south end of lake.... Even when it peeks out at let's say 3pm....tide will still be coming in up north ..

Wed..get on the water for 7am and you should be fine

W, do you think by Wed the water will be salty enough in Turners to fish?

Maybe...I haven't been north so I really can't tell u.....

I will just be in my little flat with a 25 on the back so I will probably head to west cove and just stay the better part of the day pokin around.
