Average price for the 3 flue is about $20 and the 4 flue is about $25 rigged out with the escape rings, float, rope and lead weight on the rope.

There is a place in Abbeville called Harvest Time Seafood that sells them and also in Raceland is Southern Wire that makes them. Check here too in the Houma area, Nonk Chenes crab traps. papaellis@yahoo.com, www.fatcrabs.biz, 985-209-4408.

I may be off on the prices, it has been about 4-5 years since I bought mine.

Are you looking for cages or crab nets. If you want nets you can get them at Adams Fruit Stand in Raceland for $110 a dozen rigged out. If you want cages, listen to Marshrat.

I don't what is to be done with what I saw on the bank @ the mouth of west cove launch canal into West cove. At the current price for traps there is a small fortune just sitting on the bank. Might be something to research with Sabine reserve Game wardens .

Most of those on the bank are useless and an eyesore, why they don't make them clean that up is beyond me. I have spotted plenty good traps walking back to the boat after a wade though. Saw a cool baby blue one sat morning. Some days it's like walking through walmarts on the bank, keep waiting to see a body in all that crap.

Commercial crab fishermen have to pay a $10/annual removal fee to W&F for this exact problem. I guess they feel that they now don't have to pick em up since they are paying for them to be gathered already.

Per trap????? There are hundreds at the mouth of the West Cove canal that have been there for a couple years. Who exactly is supposed to pick the derilict traps up? You could fill up several 18 yd dumps with what I see on the banks.

project time ray ray!

Terrbonne Parish has derilect crab trap removal program. Lots of sportsman and commercial fisherman get together one or two weekends a year and remove them.

Where my brother in law crabs, the refuge people told him to leave all the old traps that was left by other fisherman against the bank. He was told that it helps to keep the erosion down. Don't know how much truth there is to it, but the traps do have lots of grass growing through them where he is crabbing.

Crab Pots

Another option, Crawfish Center (337) 363-3099. They are located between Opelousas and Ville Platte. Bought my last ones there, don't remember price.
