T Bend question?
 

Planning a yaking trip to the bend in a couple weeks. Doing it on the cheap with tent & yak. What would be the best location for this type trip. Looking at Cypress Bend Park, South & North Toledo State Parks, San Miguel etc... Mostly concerned with access to protected waters away from boat traffic and safe place to camp.

Check on TX side because there is a lot of National and State forest that offers water side camping and you may even be able to launch some where and paddle up in a cove and camp on bank...... check around Fin and Feather area of lake because I have seen signs and even drove out to one of the spots to look around.

the most protected waters on la side are north t-bend state park .

I believe at the Indian Mounds park on the Tx. side has camping. You have White Oak launch that goes into the main lake or you have the Indian Mound launch into a nice cove right there plust it leads to the main lake are with numerous coves in that area. BTW, I've caught quite a few fish in that cove during the spawn.

North Toledo state park is almost directly across the San Miguel branch from San Miguel park..with a kayak, you can launch just about anywhere you want to, I guess. I like the mid lake area (San Miguel and Lanan) because there are lots of large coves within driving distance.
What will you be fishing for? If sac-a-lait, send me a message a few days before you go and I will probably be able to give you a pretty good report, since friends and family are in that area every weekend...
I know that there is a large flats area near North Toledo bend park..if bass is on the menu and the island at the junction of San Miguel and Lanan leading to the main lake is pretty good for both crappie and bass with depths ranging from shallow to deep in a pretty confined space.
