I agreee. Hunting public land, I don't always get to pull the trigger.... so can't be letting one walk.

Few years ago, we had 3 jakes come in. From where I was sitting, I had no chance at a shot. This was mid afternoon and when I looked at my partner's head was looking down. Sleeping???????

I was 15 yards from him, so I could not do anything. The birds came in from behind him and started walking past him at ~15 yards away. As they got about 10 more yards past him, I was thinking he is not going to believe me when I tell him 3 Jakes walked past him while he was sleeping.

Then I saw his gun very slowly rise up........ boom, he killed his Trophy for the day.

Nice gobblers. When does the season start in Louisiana?

SULPHITE 03-21-2012 02:00 PM

i believe its this weekend

Goosepond Monster 03-21-2012 02:02 PM

Dang. The season here in Indiana doesn't start until April 25th this year. With the weather we've been having the woods are greening up faster than usual. Many think it will make the turkey hunting a little trickier.

That is a pretty long season. A lot of folks up here complain that the season starts too late, because most of the gobblers are already locked up with hens by then.
