Great Fishing/Terrebonne Parish

Dularge Trout Fishing

No place better to be fishing than in Terrebonne Parish right now! The speckled trout are on the move and are migrating south with a big push to the lakes and bays. The trout we are catching are dark black in color indicating the fish are leaving their winter time refuges behind. They are eating up big time during the migration as they prepare for the April spawn. All the major bayous and canals north of Lake Mechant,Sister Lake and Moncleuse Bay are holding large concentrations of trout as we speak. These fish are already making their presence known on the shell reefs and numerous islands throughout the Mechant/Sister Lake area. The lakes are loaded with small pogies and croakers with good size shrimp starting to show up as well. Nearly 1500 trout have been caught in the last 10 days by our guide service and the best is yet to come! The trout are of good quality in size with fish averaging 15-20 inches on most days. Of course there are plenty of school trout under birds for the taking but we would rather target the larger fish. The trout we are catching have been feeding mostly on small pogies and croakers and swim baits have been working best in purple haze, bunker and blueback colors. LSU and Cajun Pepper chubs are good too but the swim baits imitate the small fish they are eating and are a better choice for catching larger fish. For whatever reason, this spring has been so far one of the best in years. It should last right on through April as we move closer to kicking off our summer season. We have 8 great captains that specialize in putting our customers on fish every day. Accommodations are no problem with 3 camps for lodging up to 40 people! South Louisiana has many great fishing destinations but I truly believe that our area (Cocodrie,Dulac & Dularge) is unique and the numbers of fish we catch on a daily basis is hard to beat. Good luck fishing!
