Dog musta been wearing a hoodie?

BIRD DOG 04-19-2012 09:56 PM

Cops are bullys with a badge and puddins without it!

Finfeatherfur 04-20-2012 08:16 AM

Bird dog, it's 4/20 - go chill w/ a blunt!

This incident sucks for the dog owner.......and the officer! He was sent to an address that has 3 homes around 1 fence. Encounters a male suspect that he was sent to deal with and the Blue Heeler comes out to do what heelers do. He is asking him about his "dog on a leash" because he is crapping on himself since he just shot a dog belonging to someone not involved in the 911 call.

southern151 04-20-2012 09:50 AM

Sucks for all involved. I gotta say, in the officer's defense, if I am threatened by an animal, it wouldn't have ended any different. The guy was trying to do his job.

flounder_smacker 04-20-2012 11:00 AM

Shoot first ask questions later. They should at least buy the man a new dog.

Saw on a law enforcement forum where the department hand delivered an apology to the owner of the dog, via the officer that was first on scene. That shift also pooled resources to buy the guy a new dog before the city had time to offer restitution. Of course this news will never be told.

We are talking about a dog which was someone's pet. Just FYI, did any of you guys here about the small time criminal shot and killed by officers responding to a robbery attempt by an armed assailant. The caller is now under arrest since he repeatedly reported that the bad guy had a handgun. When officers approached, he fled and while reaching to his waist he was shot. He didn't make it the hospital all because the offers "percieved" a threat before they got there. The bad guy never had a gun at all, the caller just wanted a faster response by the cops. It happens all the time at different levels and if you work long enough it will happen to you also.

Finfeatherfur 04-20-2012 12:00 PM

Also, not making excuses, just pointing out facts - from the time of his first commands "show me your hands" to the fatal shot, approximately 3 seconds passed. That's not alot of time to ID someone, make contact, look for weapons, find cover, and address a charging dark that is barking. I would have shot also!

BIRD DOG 04-20-2012 12:55 PM

Had there been more than one human this could have ended alot worse! Maybe just a little too trigger happy!?

Dink 04-20-2012 12:59 PM

FFF, Y'all don't carry pepper spray? Or anything else non lethal? Just curious

BIRD DOG 04-20-2012 12:59 PM

Cops were called to my house MANY YEARS ago bc we were having a party and it was late.Cops show up with attitudes(completely unnecessay) and threatened to shoot my yellow lab bc he wouldnt stop barking at them! They came on our property with bad attitudes and dogs can sense that,he was doing his job, were they doin thiers? My whole issue with law enforcment is thier attitude. They have no right to treat honest law abiding citizens with disrespect. They need to remember who they are sworn to protect! Also yall dont forget,I live over here in St.Tammany where you are guilty until proven innocent.

Different officers carry different tools. I DO NOT carry pepper spray anymore. I found that when you need to deploy pepper spray in a home/building, you end up getting the good guys as well. As for non-lethal weapons, lets just......"say hello to my little friend"!!!! Remington 870, which is loaded with buckshot/slugs. In a non-lethal environment, I put rubber buckshot or hydro bag rounds in it. Neither of which would have been practical with a heeler latched on to your leg since I would have had to get to my unit, unload - reload, then shoot.

Finfeatherfur 04-20-2012 01:25 PM

By the way, Tazers work wonders on dogs to!

Dink 04-20-2012 01:27 PM

I once set off an entire can of pepper spray in my car.........not fun!!!
