Please drive safe on Hwy 171 Calcasieu Bridge
Please everyone drive safer on the Calcasieu River Hwy 171 Bridge. There were 2 deaths from an accident this weekend and another wreck today. Please don't drive 60+ MPH and if you get a flat or have a wreck drive it off the bridge if you can. And if you car breaks down please if you are close to the downslope get out and walk down the bridge.
Enough wrecks and death already! |
Latt.....well said.
Before you moved to where you live now, Goss road had many accidents. After a School Board member was killed one morning, the road was resurfaced, reflectors added and white strips to mark the edges. There are not nearly as many vehicles in the ditches now compaired to before the road work was completed many years ago. The "S" curver road section was widen and reworked some. This short section of road had several wrecks each month. I came by there one night and had to help pull a lady out of her overturned car. Look at the big Pine tree on the east side by the ditch..... it has many "battle" scars. |
The girl that hit the van is the same girl who asked me to pay for her sons circumcision and had called me sun about 3 hours before the accident to ask for money. On fb she seems to have zero remorse for what happened. she delivered her son a month early sun after the accident. I do not have all the details yet but im sure i will get them soon. I am praying for the victims family as well as my buddies son. As spinner posted yesterday GIVE YOUR KIDS A HUG. You never know when the last time will be.

Prayers sent to the families at this tragic time of loss

i'd like to see the results of the toxicology test. AND her cell phone records to see if she was talking or texting or searching the internet. Do you have her name?

I do know the van was stoped just over the top of bridge so it was a bad situation from the start, you can see tire marks on north bound side at top of bridge

I was stuck in the traffic Sunday evening for two hours. That van was bad. It's a miracle anyone survived.
