first trip to big lake need help

Ive only been to big lake once and that was last year, well needless to say I dont remember anything about it.since heberts is closed can you still launch there? And if so are there any spots pretty close to the ramp that are good.ive been studying a map of it and everywhere I look I see pile and piling and all sorts of stuff underwater. I know the majority of it seems to be in the middle ofcthe lake.but to be safe im just gonna idle around and probably troll until I figure out the area.I heard its dangerous to go in there on high tide if you don't know your way around.im not looking for secret spots or honey holes or exact coordinates.ive mainly been looking at the marsh thats north of heberts and it seems to have some canal and cuts.basically my plan is to go in and hug the east bank.I lno im probably being over cautious and wastin my time but im always nervous fishing new water... But then again id rather not catch anything and be safe then have a cooler full of fish and sink it to the bottom lol, any advice is appteciated

Leave Heberts and head south, fish Commisary Pt, then go south on east bank, also hit the weirs, all the way down till lake turns west, or south end of lake. Water typically 5-6', you should have no problem with south wind.
