Nobody pays for kids

Health insurance anymore??? I'm I doing something wrong??

I swear if I have not been asked 1500 times already if my child is on medicaid
every time you go to Dr office or Hospital

No I made sure I could have a kid and afford it before hand!

I asked the nurse at the Memorial this week how many kids are on medicaid ... She said 8 out of 10

WOW.......

Well I'm glad I can afford to pay for my kids health care and not have to live off the government

very aggravating subject...will probably never change either!!!

Yea go stand in line when the parents pay for it wit their Medicaid card. I'll bet you a crisp $20 they're in new Jordan's, a New Era cap, and talkin on their iPhone.

We have two kids that we're raising that aren't ours. We have full custody of them but didn't adopt them, they both have the medical card because it goes by their parent's income. One of their fathers is dead, the other a dead beat and mom doen't help out. I also have them on my insurance plan, in case the medical card gets pulled so I don't have to wait for open enrollment and get stuck with a big bill possibly. We have to use the insurance as primary, we pay copay, meet the deductible then the medical card picks up after that what the insurance doesn't pay. I would have bee better off not putting them on my insurance. We don't make alot of money but we make too much to qualify for any other assistance. Unreal how many people can screw the system, day in and day out all their lives. I better stop before I say something bad.

Gotta love em! If ya didn't, no one would have any of them expensive little suckers! Try having a $3800 deductible! Hurts but, at least they're insured!

You should do the flex account deal thru your compnay. I think the max which is tax deduct is 5K. We normally do 3,500 a year and pretty much use it all. That way, you do not have to come up with that money out of pocket. It is a payroll deduct from your check. ON JAN 1 the money is loaded on your card. Only bad thing is if you do use it, you lose it. However, if you have a few kids it will be used. From what I know you can do pretty much set it at any dollar amount.

I don't get a payroll deduct. Well, I guess I do! Lol!

W, as soon as you get your bills in call the hospital and negotiate a discount for prompt pay. Every stay my little one was in Oschner I was able to get a 20% discount if I paid right away. Tell them you want a supervisor and you can get the discount and 3 months to pay it off. If not I tell them to get &^%$&%, turn me over to collections. Or just send them 5$ a month and they will take it. They are such azzholes to deal with, sorry if you are in that field.. haha

This is bad advice and not good -- it affects your credit score if you go to collections. just call and negotiate for a discount.

I would not be surprised if 80% of the residents of this town get "free" medical care. One of only ten "State" hospitals is here and a medical clinic that draws people from as far away as Chalmette. My wife has vending machines in both locations and I'm there almost every day, so, I get to see all that stuff first-hand. Pisses me off to no end to hear one of 'em biotch about the cost of a 20 oz. Coke and a bag of chips.....while talkin' on a $400 cell phone. The boss won't allow me to respond, and, that's probably best. If you wanna see how the 'Crats live...come to Bogalusa.

I saw the total for the bill when we had our little girl. Without surgery(c-section) it came around 35-36K. Could you imagine if you got caught without maternity insurance or medicaid or somethin? You could be screwed for a long time. Rediculous the cost of health services.

I have a medical supply co and 65% of our patients are on medicaid. They do get all of there things for free, but the amount of care that they recieve compared to private insurance is low. We have several pediatric children on trachs that have medicaid, and only 1 on private insurance. The babys on medicaid only recieve half of the supplies that the other recieves, because medicaid will not pay for them.
