Beachfront - Surfside/Freeport, TX 5-15-2012

Drove down from downtown Houston with the wife after work yesterday after seeing prime conditions on the surfcams...in the water at 6:00 and done by 7:15 with a limit of 20 trout for the two of us and one bonus pompano (caught and released probably another 20 until dark). Was about as easy as it gets, wife threw live shrimp while I started with shrimp and ended up catching most of my fish on bone spook junior. Off to a great start to the beach fishing season (only got one low quality pic right at dark).

Crystal Beach can be great when the winds are light....you are also close to an area referred to as the Bolivar Pocket, which is a stretch of beach just to the north of the north galveston jetty, which protects it from the prevailing s/se wind and tends to hold good water when other areas are blown out. Good wading all up and down the beach from the north jetty all the way through crystal beach (though some big sharks around/caught as well).

That's what I'm talking about! Great job.
That area is where I like to surf fish too. Too bad I'm stuck at work and home. The conditions are prime time right now.

Last Year while living in Houston. I ran down a handful of times with very little success while those fishing around me with live bait did not have large enough stringers to hold all there fish.

DAMN meaux!!!! If the E10 didn't have my carbs all gunked up, I'd run you around the East Bay reefs that weekend. :pissed: :pissed:

I haven't been to Crystal Beach since Ike, but back in the day it wasn't nothing to see topless girls riding around in the back of pick up trucks ( o )( o )
