Mermentau afternoon bite

Was planing on going to marsh island sunday but I ended up having to work till noon. Decided to try mermentau off the bank with my brother. Stopped at price lake road and cast netted for some live shrimp and mullet. Fishing was slow once we got to the spot, tide was ripping out hard. When the tide slowed the switch turned on. We caught over 20 redfish all were keeper size. Kept the 16-20inchers and threw the rest back. Most were caught under a sliding cork and live shrimp outcaught the mullet hands down. Was a good simple afternoon, been way too long since I felt some drag peeling.....no pics my digital camera got wet and it is fried.

Nice, i was also at price lake road sunday catching a few crabs, stayed at my freinds camp and his neighbors went out of the mermentau to a few rigs and caught some nice specks about 12 miles out.

Yeah the crabs were thick out there....caught several in the cast net. Looked like specks hitting schools of pogies in the river itself but could not cast far enough off the bank. Gunna have to do some further research once I get my steering on my boat fixed.

I hear you, I never fished there but next time I go to my friends camp for the weekend I will bring my boat and give it a shot.
