soft plastic color help

I was in academy today, and being the bait addict that I am, picked up a lot of different things I never used before. I also got all kinds of colors that I have never used, and have no idea what colors to use for what conditions. I have tried to do it like I select colors for bass, but that hasn't seemed to work, as a matter of fact, it seemed to be opposite! Anyone got any tips on color selection for particular scenarios?

If the water is fairly clear you'll want to use light colors. I've personally had some luck with glow/white chart, opening night, etc.. If the water is murky you'll want to use dark colors. If you can try to find the clearest water out there. While fish can be caught in murky water, it's usually much more difficult. Good luck to u!

I agree. Those are exactly and the only colors I have. Except no pink. Gonna have to try some. They all work for me.

Morning glory is what I use 98% of the time and it does the trick no matter water clarity.

Try the bubble yum. I like it alot and it catches fish on BL anyways.

really clear water a dark color works better than a light color if they are feeding on shad. if they are going for shrimp, the new penny or shrimp colors work good.

Hope this helps.
I use Opening Nite,Glow ,chartruse. Then get a few diff colors of dye and you can try different things . Ex; dye the tail of an opening nite bait pink,or chartruse.

funny, I have that color (mornin glory), or something close to that in a lot of different baits and never tried it. guess I will, it's hard for me to get away from the glow/chart. that color in a ripple mullet is my go to bait, and it rarely lets me down. how often do you generally change a color if they aren't gettin it? also, for me I fish ripple mullets, or doa shrimp. how bout yall?

bull1134 05-22-2012 09:50 PM

oh yeah, hackberry hustlers too, but only on the bottom. Doa under corks, and ripple mullets on both.

Its a safe bet that if im not throwing opening night I'm throwing pearl or glow/ truce , the other colors I mentioned I seldom use
