Dumb people

I passed up 5 15ft aluminum boats heading to the weirs this a.m. 3 who had kids and none were farther than Commp pt... 2ft chop with 3,s and 25 mph SW winds.. I stopped by all of them and told em.... Turn around and go 2oo feet and that's what you will fight coming back and could sink your boat

They all said were just going to the weirs.....Dumbazzes to put kids thought that

Keywest18 05-25-2012 07:34 AM

I hope those kids had on life jackets and dont mind a little water......

mr crab 05-25-2012 08:23 AM

They will teach their kids to hate going fishing for sure. It takes a bunch of good trips for them to forget the bad one.

"W" 05-25-2012 10:16 AM

Thay all had life jackets

I talked some young kids out of going to the weirs yesterday, I was riding in my golf cart and was taking in the sights at the launch at Heberts, that's always a blast, but they had 3 young guys in a 12ft alum boat, loaded down with ice chest and such, they had a 9.9 on the back of this boat, I asked where they were heading, they said the weirs, I asked them if they knew how far they had to go, they said they had no clue, just heard fishing was great there, I told them once they got around comercary point they would take a few over their bow and they would sink right there, they got the point, they wanted to fish so I steered them to the marsh behind pelican point, don't know if they caught but at least they could wet a line and not worry about getting killed!

I was told that a bill was put on Jesse Ventura's desk to stop people from driving on a frozen lake during the spring time because people were goin in and drowning. The story goes that he said no matter how many laws we pass you won't stop people from doin stupid things and killing themselves. That's nature's way of weeding out the weak and stupid. With that being said I've gone to the weirs in some rough conditions in my aluminum boat. I've been one of "those idiots" several times before, and will probably be one again this weekend.

It only takes one wave I seen that first hand!

I'd have to second that...I did have my family out at the barrier islands before and the weather kicked up, but luckily I had a fellow SC member out there to escort me in, knocking down the waves for me!!! I've been at the mouth of the gulf and looked out and said to the other 2 (MEN)....Guys it's going to be rough, take a vote...all said go, so we did...and YEP, It was rough...Nothing to do but crank up the deadliest catch theme song on CD, Humm the gilligans' island theme song and work the bilge...ALL FOR A FISH!!! Can't explain why I am mentally damaged....See danger, feel danger....LET'S GO...It's crazy....However, I am very timid with my family on board....

You dont respect the water it will bite you. I ran a 26' Twin Vee with Seatow after Katrina. We had to go in Lake Pontch and it was nasty. Did not look to bad until we started launching a couple miles out. Took one over the bow that cleaned the center console and almost ripped windshield. Yep, you couldnt pry my hands off the wheel.

Sea-Trac Offshore 05-25-2012 11:58 AM

Now with my family its different. Protected waters and calm.

Ray 05-25-2012 12:04 PM

The weather is just cleaning out the weak ones from gene pool.

I was crabbing this A.M. And a boat that I stopped with a guy 2 little girls and little boy
....made it about Hour after I passed them up...
They were soaking wet ...

I said well that was the easy part wait until you nose dive in the waves going back....

The crabbing sucked and they sat there about 2hours had 5 crabs and castet about 4 shrimp...
He said man this sucks.....I said again....no your ride back will suck and you better call someone to let them know when you head back

Guy was clueless......

All in all..he beat his kids to death on a boat ride than yield them a dozen crabs I'f than..m.

On the other side of the coin...I have went out in SLICK FLAT seas for a day of Snapper fishing 25 miles out....Weather man said it would be perfect....Everything wonderful....I'm talking slick as glass....Get out and start tearing in to snapper (before the limits were STUPID and it was worth it to go), Cobia, amberjack...You name it, we were in them....Boat starts bouncing up and down, no worries....breeze picks up just enough to cool us off from the 190 degree heat...no worries...then they start building....Frequency far apart...no worries....When the constant 3's start to chop up and change directions and pick up in frequency, we pick up and start in...THEN, It got bad! ankle deep water in boat, buddies bilge not working, I'm driving can't get boat to plane, circling a platform in case we have to swim, his heads down trying to fix bilge...Now he's sea sick and puking, so ABC (already been chewed) hamburger is floating on our ankles....After 5 mins of terror, bilge working...buddy still puking....get on plane and keep nose into the big one's all the way back...jogging with a compass, cause we didn't have GPS's in boats back then...That was the roughest...Coming in to belle pass we had 8' rollers that was scaring the C-Rap out of me...
