Wier Suggestion

A shrimper friend of mine had a good idea. He proposes opening the wiers 3 days before and 3 days after the full moon and also 2 weeks later on the no moon phase. This would allow the shrimp and crabs to come and go from the marsh when they most naturally need to. This ought to increase bait in the lake significantly. This should get the smaller trout to fatten up some and also allow the shrimpers and crabbers (commercial and recreational ) to have better catches. Close the wiers the rest of days if they need to but let nature move when they need to move most.

If you like this idea 2 numbers to call Scott 337-794-1661 and/or Mike 337-246-0610

If you would have called 1-855-532-9955 in the last 2 days, the recording said just what you posted. Only difference is the boat bay was opened for 2 days [Tue. and Wed, today]. Only problem the water level in Big Lake today was a foot or more above normal today so water was pouring into the marsh which surely must have made it hard for the "critters" to move against the water flow to get into the lake.

Yeah, not a bad idea. That's why ok pretty certain they are already operated in that manner. Not nearly as long as you suggest, but they do open the around those times because as you pointed out, that is when the natural ingress and egress is for the nekton. But as I have pointed out, they have built in slats to allow some fish amd shrimp to move between the lake and marsh even when the weirs are closed.
