motor spray
ok guys ,i just purchased a boat, when i am running trimmed all the way down,my motor throws up a spray on each side, right up against the back of the boat, but when i trim up ,it is normal, the guy had some one put a jack plate on this boat, but the jackplate is all the way up and the motor is bolted on the lowest hole it can go,is the motor still to low? or too high?he said the cavitation plate is about an inch above the bottom point of the transom, which seems about right,,i dont know why he put the jackplate on in the first place, all he had to do was raise the motor one more hole up if he was dragging to much..has anyone came across this before?

if you run wide open trimmed all the way down it will spray. mine does it so bad that water will come back into the boat. if it quits doing it when you trim out then its fine.
|
i dint run it wide open trimmed all the way down, but when i trim up it goes away,i mjust never had a boat shoot water up like that on each side the motor
|
That's normal mine does it too..

if you really want to know what is going on, have a buddy drive while you look over the transom. you will easily be able to see what the motor is doing. long story short, its pretty much normal.

Why run it trimed down anyway? Trim her up and go man, go!!
|
thanks.i dont run trimmed down, but i want to make sure i am not dragging, that way i get more top end,i think the motor needs to come up a hole...thanks again

motor spray
fixed the problem raised the motor 3 holes and no more spray when taking off trimmed down ,and can still trim up,so my motor was way low....
|
How high is your plate from the bottom of the boat? Mines about 3/4" and I get spray from my motor like you mentioned.but I cant raise it anymore if I give it WOT ftom a dead stop it sucks up air and the motor over revs
