this just ain't right

My daughter called a little while ago and said that a dude ran a stop sign and clobbered her brand new Murano. So, I jump up and run over there. I axt the officer shouldn't the dude get cited for running a stop sign and causing an accident. He replied, "Yes, but, I ain't much of a ticket-writer." I said, "OK, I'll take care of it!" I'm waiting for the police chief to call me.

This kinda stuff pisses me off to no end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :pissed: :pissed: :pissed: :pissed:

I'm tight with the chief, but, I'm not sure anything will change. I will have him to explain to me why this is allowed, tho, and if it ever happens again...he'll know what to expect. I axt the officer if he would have written a ticket had my daughter been killed. He ignored me.

jchief 06-25-2012 01:37 PM

the accident report will show who was at fault. Should issue a citation though

Yeah, the chief's secretary told me that it would show that plus if a ticket was issued. She told me it is left up to the officer's discretion.

Is this common practice, or...just Bogalusa?

jchief 06-25-2012 01:44 PM

More common than not probably.

I remember Sen. Ben on the radio in the middle of the night asking for help cause it was the only air time he could get.
He let Blanko have it that night. I also remember having to wait to get a national guard escort to bring a trailer load of stuff to Bougalusa cause the good ole boys were hijacking trucks out in the piney woods.

What she is telling you is correct and is practiced more than people think. The crash report will show him at fault and the ticket would not show more fault it would just be something else he would have to pay. The crash report will be a ever lasting record and will show with the insurance company he is at fault. Where as a ticket can be reduced, fixed, and even kept off the record. The writing of a ticket is completely up to the officer.

Yes, I remember it like it was yesterday. Battery-operated radio. :smokin: Gov. Blanco was asked why Bogalusa had not received any ice or even water... even though it looked like a bomb zone and she replied, "I think we should let Mississippi take care of their own." Is this unreal, or what?

Yep, they were hijackin' 18-wheelers with guns.

Yet, there was no damage.
