Suggestions for Snapper/Ling Rod n Reel

I want to start heading offshore to catch some mangroves, red snapper, ling and kings. I don't have the right gear right now and will need to pick up a few outfits.

I don't want to break the bank as I will need to buy a few outfits. I prefer spinning gear. What do you all suggest?

Offshore tackle is not where you want to be cheap. I would get a shimano terez rod and a stradic 8000.

Shimano trevala rod shimano bait runner 8000 spinning reel or a 600-800 shimano tekota open face level wind

Depends on what type of set up you like spinning, or open, lever drag or level wind. Personally I like a Shimano TLD 25 because of the lever drag so you can lock it down when you get a Ling on to get him out of the rig. The reel is pleanty big for the fish u listed. One thing to consider is if you are going to be casting or just mainly using live/dead bait or possibly vertical jigging. If you are going to cast then you would need something like mentioned above. The TLD is a good solid reel very dependable in the lower price range of it's style. And I personally like Star rods they make a good inexpensive combo.

Penn battle is a really nice spinning reel.
If ur gonna b buying 3-4 set ups this is a good priced reel.

The penn squall is also very nice & will b easier on ur pocket.
The shimano trevala rods are awesome! Def worth the price!!
The tekota, torium, bait runner, Stella are awesome!! I've fished with em and they are definitely a step up.

But to start off with a set up and only use em a few times a year it's hard to pay that high dollar.

If you buy cheap reels for offshore they will break with the quickness. I know this from experience

I used a star paraflex (I think) jigging rod. It was pretty sweet
