Thanks for the heads up not going to say what I would do if I caught somebody stealing my stuff..

this has been going on for 3-4 years now.

Thanks for the heads up. I always bring my rods up on the porch right in front of my bedroom and the 2 Humminbirds inside. Automatic light comes on if someone walks up on the porch and the .40 cal is on the nightstand by the bed. Needless to say, I'll be buying a new window if someone tries that. What also worries me, is that $500 prop sitting right there on the lift. I never leave the boat on the lift if i'm not at the camp.

Man, hate to hear that :pissed: ... I always pull as much gear as possible and all electronics out of the boat...

I hate a thief !!!

Was at a state a few years back and the park ranger told me the thieves travel at night, by boat. Totally stealth with a troll motor once they get close to shore. The thieves drive up to different campgrounds looking for easy pickings.

A cottonmouth left in the rod box would help curb that problem:eek:

That been going on for along time.
Usually bad in spring when they get a lot of people coming in for tournaments.
I just bring my stuff in or when I had a big hound dog that didn't like people.
I would bring her to the camp and chain her to the boat where she had enough room to run around it at night.
In 1997 I had some teenagers messing with my boat at 2 am and she took a chunk out of ones of the teenagers rear. Their parents tried to sue me. I had to go to court with my insurance company and with evidence of a fence around my property and beware of dog sign they dropped the suit.

Yup they drove up stole all the rods. Pretty pissed sucks to know that nothing is safe there. We also talked to another guy that was staying near the golf course who got a bunch of ski stuff stolen so be careful guys. If you fond them go ahead and blow there boat and make sure they won't steal again.

They have been doing this for five plus years and I sure wish they would get caught by someone in the act and dealt with swiftly as to save all of us taxpayers some money.

got to be some pawn shop or second hand shop buying this stuff or it would be showing up on e bay or CL. go after the buyer(s)

Put up some game cameras on your piers/docks. Sooner or later, you will get a pic.

jchief 07-11-2012 01:04 PM

Oh, I understand they are coming in by boat from the lake it sounds like.

jlsch1 07-13-2012 07:41 AM

Aggravating and problem is th law on the criminal's side.
If catch theft they get a slap on the wrist.
I love wasting a day to go to court to hear the forgive and forget speech.
I then love how they get attorney's to file suit against me when my dog took chunk out of their tail. My dog was on my property that was fenced in with beware of dog sign.
Thank goodness I pushed it with my insurance company to not settle and fought it.
Then cost me arm & leg in legal fees.

They walked away with slap on wrist and an ambulance chasing attorney who probably was on consignment.

Until crime stops paying off this will go on or judge in Sabine parish gets pressure from loss of tourism dollars and puts these guys away.

We had cameras but they only covered the entrances to the boat house and the doors. They must have climbed up the back of the boat. When water is down it's a lot harder to do this. Our neighbors locked their rod boxes and they just broke the locks and took everything. A very bad feeling. Will set up a sting operation on our own. This might get too fun!!!!

my uncle had all his and his buddys rods and tackle stolen several years ago and it was locked up in the boat but as everyone knows locks are to keep honest people honest they need to catch these people and make a example out of them

Had a buddy and another guy that was parked next to him get all their rods stollen (36 I think was final count). Luckly they came for easy money cause they left all the electronics alone. This happened in March on Texas side of Penalton bridge, but there were others complaining the same week around Big Bass about fishing rods being taken and gas being siphoned.
