Garmin 546 GPS question

I recently purchased a new GPS because my last one bit the dust. I was wondering if anyone has a Garmin 546 or similiar model and has used the HomePort feature? I would like to be able to enter in all of my GPS coordinates from the comfort of my desk vs. having to sit in the boat and enter them all in manually. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to load them on an SD card from your computer then upload it to your gps. I have the 441s

I have the garmin mapsource program on my computer and load all my info onto sd cards from there. Once you figure it out its a very handy program. I assume homeport is just the new version of mapsource?

The garmin homeport is very easy to use. Just drop a pin anywhere on the map and then clic on it to change coordinates and put in things like depth and such. Even has a place to put remarks. Then once you have put all the point/routes in you want just put in the sd card and it will kind of look like windows folders on the left side of the screen. Just drag and copy library to sd card. Then load into garmin and go into the menu and find where it says to import/export and load the way points.
