Cocodrie Stay

Went to Cocodrie for the first time in my life two weeks ago and mopped up the Specks with friends. I figured this is a great time to introduce my two oldest kids (8 &10)to the wonderful world of speck fishing so I have rented a room at Coco Marina for Thurs-Sunday. I want this to be a great experience for them so that they get the fever and spend many more weekends with me doing the same. As I said this will only be my second trip to the area and I have never stayed at Coco marina and was looking for any advice that you guys may have that would make this trip all it can be for my little ones. I have fishing spots and know where the bait boat is so I'm pretty sure i have the yellow mouthes covered just wondering about what I can do to make sure they are entertained while we aren't fishing. I was planning on setting a couple of crab traps out but I don't recall seeing any in the area. Is it legal to set them out there? Is there access to boiling pot etc at coco marina or do i need to bring my own?
Any input would be appreciated.

you will need a license for the traps. can't answer the other questions.

You dont need a license if you have less than a certain amount but I'm not sure of the amount.

Crabbing is legal in the area.

You can maybe line up a field trip to LUMCON, its the big marine research facility down there.

CoCo marina has a pool also where the kids can swim if they get bored....... They also have some good food in the restaurant.

If you are using wire crab traps you need a recreational crab license and can only have 10 or less if you are using the net kind you just need a fishing license

Im sure if you called the marina they could tell you if there is access to a pot

If the fishing gets slow you can stop by Timbalier Island and let them run around on the beach. Only accessable by boat. Quite a few people camp around there during the holidays.
