Looking for a hand held marine gps receiver that you can put coordinates in.
Never had one, so user friendly would be nice. Any ideas ?

The Garmin 62, 72 or 78 series are all very nice. I have the 78cs and love it. It is pricey but it does come with the upgraded map as opposed to the base map.

I love my Garmin etrex Summit HC

garmin oregon. I have a 550T. it has a camera that i never use. lol get the 400. it is cheaper and download a map from gps index and you will be set. I use mine hunting and fishing.

I have the Garmin etrex Summit HC well. Great little handheld, was around 150. It comes with Garmin Mapsource software so you can easily enter your points using the computer, then upload them to the handheld. you can import the mapsource file into Google Earth as well.

Don't get the Lowrance (Endura), doesn't have maps but can add for $200!:(

I have garmin 62s and its very easy. i love it..some of the other guys I guide with have the same device and love it also.

I have a Garmin 76csx for several years now. I put Blue Charts Americas on it. I bought it at the time because it floats and waterproof. Haven't looked at any newer models simply because I like the one I have.

Garmins are user friendly, like someone above said the MapSource software is fairly easy to work with and it also has an interface that works with GoogleEarth so you get the most recent aerial photos. When you are messing with MapSource you can switch from the topo maps to 'view in google earth', it comes in handy

The more expensive units become way too technical and will likely do way much more than you will ever need them for (bells and whistles).

Still have a Garmin eTrex I have had for 10 years, it even has solunar tables on it

X2, I love the magnetic compass function so you don't have to be moving to know where N is.

Garmin just got mine and love it

Yup I have been using the garmin 76cx now for about 3 years. Waterproof, floats, and never loses signal. I use it in the boat, the marsh and in very thick woods and I mean I always have a signal. My old one wouldn't work under the tree canopy in the deer woods.
