Bank Fishing: Prien/Lake Charles

Going to be doing some work in the Calcasieu courthouse probably Wednesday. Thinking of getting to the area for sun up to maybe catch a quick early bite till 8am or so.

What are some good places one can access (without trespassing of course) some moving water or where bait seems to flow off the banks of either Lake Prien or Lake Charles? A place where plastics would possibly work, though I will bring some bait shrimp just in case there are some reds working that I can't seem to entice artificially.

By the way, fished the Jetties in Cameron last Sunday, the 5th. Water looked ugly. Only caught two specks, one 6.4lbs and one 3.5lbs. Had to throw back a few rat reds.

Thanks.

I have fished (and heard of other people fishing) henderson bayou on the west side of Prien Lake Park and caught some nice flounder before. I know some people catch pretty good reds there from time to time too. Not sure how good it would be right now. It's not the deepest area around, and I know from reports people have been catching alot deeper, but its somewhere I've had some luck

Merci. Just looking for something simple while I'm there before the courthouse opens, and if a catch a couple good fish, the awesome.

I'll be heading back to Cameron this Saturday to try off the jetties again. Hoping the water looks better, and that there another 6+ pounder hanging around. :). Only thing about fishing off the jetties, it can be really challenging to land a fish on those large, sometimes we rocks!

a lot of people will fish a popping cork right off the sewall in lake charles.

Yeah seawall is popular too. Just not sure how good the fishing is up there. I know alot of people have said the salinities are bit lower up there.

I fished the seawall a few days ago, didnt do crap. Tried live bait amd artificial. It was afternoon though. I hear its better right before it gets dark. I fished Henderson bayou last week and caught two flounders and that was early morning
