I get the boat with the motor, are you saying I shouldn't? I have had a past with a merc and it's not pleasant!!!

ANYTHING with a label on it that says "Race", "Racing ", High Performance" or other such label is gonna give you trouble. Especially if it is used. And yes, I speak from experience.

proly an promax...unless someone put an alien cowl on efi fishing motor to be cool...a promax will hold up as much as a run a the mill efi...

X2. The biggest variable is the previous owner. Did he drive like he thought he was race driver or a fisherman?

You need to find out exactly what it is, but if you check the compression and everything looks good it should be a great motor. Pro max's are great motors. And cheap to work on. (I say cheap...compared to an optimax or such). I have a 225x on my bullet and I run the hell out of it everywhere I go. Got close to 400 hours with 0 problems and still holding right at 135 psi in each cylinder.

Easy to find out, have a tech plug in and read the ecu.
