Lake Tangipahoa
 

The dam has failed on Lake Tangipahoa. They are evacuating everyone living around the lake and down stream. Prayers sent!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mandatory Evacuation of all residents who live w/in one mile of the tangipahoa river on either side in tangipahoa parish.

so how deep was the break? How tall is the structure anyway??

The river is very high; we live about 2 miles from the bridge her n loranger.
There are actually 3 places where bridges cross the river in loranger.
Many friends and family members have been evacuated due to the rising water.

It has not failed..... They are fixing to breech it to take approx 8' of water off lake before the whole structure fails. 8' won't make much difference in river level. If whole structure fails it'll be bad!

Evac is half mile on each side

That's what I heard on the radio. They said it did not fail but did suffer some damage.

Lots of homes, business & schools in the flood area.

And it's been stormin again for the past 1.5 hours...... Don't know how much more water we can handle.

So sad. That is a crazy beautiful piece of land all around that area.
