My 10 year old absolutely loves broiled pompano. Do they ever run around Louisiana, close enough for a 18' bay boat to get to them safely?

I have absolutely tore them up at the 66/67 field SW of Grand Cheniere. They love live shrimp. We fish them with a circle hook and a lead weight about 12" up from hook. You gonna loose a lot of hooks due to spanish but then the pompano are there they are thick. I caught them last summer just before the 4th of July.

Nice catch. I just got back from there last night. Wish I could have done some fishing, but the wife drug me along to the damn outlet malls :pissed:. Told her next vacation I'm loading up the horses and heading for the mountains and she wasn't invited.

Nice, Pomps are good eating. They have a Vietnamese market near my house that sells them gutted and frozen whole for $3.99 I cook them on the pit often. My kids love them. My wife says they taste fishy. I tell her that's becasue you eating fish, if you want it to taste like popcorn eat popcorn.
