Question about boat storage...

For those of you who live in subdivisions without a place to put boat, where do y'all store it? It's looking like I'm gonna have to find a storage building that does boats but the damn prices are more than my boat note!!! Are there cheaper options in the Lafayette area??

Also, what would it cost me to build a lil covering to park it under on an empty lot someone may let me use.

Thanks in advance :help:

You can get the metal carports with just the tops pretty cheap. If i were you i would try to find a buddy and trade a few fishing trips for parking it at his house.....

I park in my driveway. No HOA. I'm sure my neighbors love me!

You're right about storage fees being out of control. I looked into them before settling on the driveway.

We don't have an HOA either. Ill probably keep it in driveway sometimes but it would block my garage and then truck would have to sleep outside.but I guess truck sleeping outside is better than $200/month.

I keep my boat at the storage units on eraste landry right next door to Cox. They were the most affordable that i found in lafayette and they have video surveillance. My unit is 40ft deep and runs 120 a month. Definately not cheap but for me it's the best option right now.

$120 is better than everything I've been finding. It has a real wide door?

I believe the doors are 10 ft wide by 12ft high. I have a 25ft robalo deep v and don't have any problems backing it in.

we have ours at a storage facility on domingue road off of west congress street. We pay $40 per month, you pay 6 months in advance $240.00.

$40/month for inside storage? Will it hold a 21'?

What's the name of this place?

Our boat is a 21ft. Nautic Star, its tight, but it works! Pierret Rentals 984-5711, the number is for Pierret Construction, but its the same owner.

Thanks, Hopefully my boat will fit in there. Where on Domingue is this? I looked on google maps and couldnt find it.

Take west congress off ambassador heading towards Scott, take a right on domingue, and it's about a 1/4 mile on ur left. The office looks like a house, with the gated storage area on the side of it.

Just looked at my lease and it's 240 for 4 months, sorry about that, still cheap. The address is 201 north domingue ave

Appreciate the info. I'll give em a call tomorrow. Was that the cheapest place when shopping around?

I use to keep mine behind the house, someone would have to walk behind my house and be snooping around to see it, never had any complaints! plus they can't tell you what you can have in your back yard, just in your driveway and front yard.

Wish I could man. Damn gates are too narrow to get boat into back yard.

laffygirl 09-10-2012 08:40 PM

Didn't call anyone else after getting this price, plus it is literally 2 minutes away from our house.
