Top dawg and his family had a pretty sweet one when I was younger, right when you walk in the front door. You got any old pics of that?

Top Dawg 09-13-2012 08:59 PM

No. But my dad has a pretty nice spread at their new house. I will try to get some pics this weekend.

cajunforeman 09-13-2012 09:10 PM

To bad I remember that big gobler with a long beard. Pretty sweet turkey mounts.

Top Dawg 09-13-2012 09:11 PM

He's still got that mount. It's hangin by his bar at his house. Along with the old javelina.

Spunt Drag 09-13-2012 09:17 PM

Mine is pretty meager and it's under construction but every mount is sentimental to me. I can tell you the detailed story about every one. I'm sure y'all feel the same way.

A K Newlin?

CaptainBG 09-13-2012 09:57 PM

I believe so! Not sure though.

barbarian 09-13-2012 10:23 PM

I am pretty sure it is Willie Newlin, AK's brother. He has been around the world a few times on some incredible hunting trips. I haven't talked to him in a few years, but I know he has remodeled his house at least once maybe twice just for his mounts. If my memory is correct, he has all the antelope mounted like a knight chess piece going around the room. I know once the told me him and his wife had been hunting bear in Russia. His wife killed 2 - 10'+ so she decide to mount both in a fight or something. Again, it has been a while since I talked to him. He is a great guy and I could sit and listen to some of his stories all day.

CaptainBG 09-13-2012 10:40 PM

That's him!

Here is mine. These are the ones that made the move. I have several others that I left at a friends camp.

This first one is a collection that I started of every drake in North America. There are 32 to legally hunt. I have 28. I built the cabinet out of pecky cypress I bought in Lafayette. The wood is drift wood from the beach that I stained to look wet like it just washed ashore. I used to have a gun cabinet in the middle and all 3 sections were coverd in glass. I chipped 2 of the pieces of glass and turned the middle gun case into a book shelf in my home office. I have trim pieces that go around the exterior and in the seams as the whole cabinet is really 3 seperate cabinets side by side. The 2nd picture is large red and trout and then a large cull buck to the right from a friends ranch and on the left is a black tail I killed while in Alaska shooting ducks for the collection. And of course in the middle is a big black specklebelly. My proudest of all is the picture to the left. That is my yellow lab that moved on about 10 years ago. She was amazing. That was picture taken in the duck blind on Christmas morning when she was about 5 and had it blown up at K&B drugs of all places. She has been impossible to replace.
