Cell phone advice
I know this has been discussed before, but here is my deal. I was a proud Blackberry user for years. My company just issued us new Samsung Galaxy phones, still w/ At&t service and I have been having it for a month now. Still not sold on it and really miss my keyboard of the BB.
Problem is, when I go to Mississippi I have an "E" showing extended coverage and I am unable to get on internet. Lady at At&t store said that the SIM card may be bad, and changed it. When asked why it worked fine as soon as the phone crossed back into LA, she said it was because of reception. If it is reception, the SIM card won't do anything to help that. My wife uses an iphone w/ no issues there. Any advice on what to do????? |
Do what I'm about to do......go to Verizon.

Wish I could, but the company is At&T and their account is huge!

I've been an AT&T customer through various providers. since 1998. It's time for me test the Verizon waters.

While I was with AT&T I was told the E stood for the Edge network. It was the network that was used before all the 3G and 4G hype. The way it was told to me is if you r in an area that is not covered by 3G then it will go to the slower Edge network which in my eyes has always been AT&T problem.

Anywheres around here verizon sucks bad.

Get an iPhone then

There are some keyboard alternatives in the app store that are much better. Dont recall the names, but if you search on the internet, you can find them. To me the SG3 is a great phone, tears up my old iPhone, but I like more feedback in my keyboard. It sounds like your issue is carrier related. Verison is probably you best bet. A different phone would not change how their signal is. Now there have been some complaints about the SG3 radio, so they may need to give you a replacement.

You're lucky to even have service in Knoxville! I saw guy with a string & cup up there the other day!
Mine phone does same thing all the way up 33, got the big E |

As far as phones Samsung doesn't do as well on reception as others. Motorola, HTC, Nokia and Apple are better. |
The "e" does stand for Edge network and its slow as hell, Iphones use Edge too if 3g isnt available, all networks are gonna have slower internet areas
And just my experience but i live in moss bluff and everyone i know with verizon hates it with a passion, I have at&t and up until recently i had sprint and at&t is a HUGE upgrade |

When I moved to my current residence I was on AT&T, but I got tired of going outside and walking around to try and make calls, so I switched to Verizon. I haven't been disappointed at all with Verizons service. Nine times out of ten if the call is breaking up or drops it's the other person's phone (unless it's my wife's iphone 4, that's a piece of junk). With that said I would consider a switch back to AT&T, but I will need to prove that their coverage is better at my house before I do that.
